Pic of the Vine - February 2019

February brought an abundance of snow to Washington wine country. Undeterred by the cold and the drifts, contributing photographer Richard Duval spent a day in Yakima Valley en route to the Washington Winegrowers Association conference in Kennewick.

“Crisscrossing the roads of Zillah, I went searching for vineyards awash in white and illuminated in a surprisingly clear - and cold - afternoon,” said Duval. “This particular area has long been a favorite, especially the barn and barrels of Sheridan Vineyard, a winery nestled on the edge of Dineen Vineyards. Bathed in the late light, the vineyard and the barrels gave me all I needed to capture a snowy scene with barely a hint that spring is not that far away.”
