July Virtual Tasting - Hogue 2007 Genesis Syrah

Our July Virtual Tasting is tonight! The tasting will take place between 7-8pm Pacific Time. The wine is the 2007 Hogue Genesis Syrah.

What you need to do to participate is:

1. Buy this month’s wine from a local retailer or from the winery

2. Post your comments/tweets on the wine tonight between 7 and 8pm. For those on Twitter, follow me @wawinereport. I will be using the hashtag #wawine during the event.

Look for updates to the blog and comments and tweets from virtual tasters starting at 7pm. Hope you'll join us.

  1. Those tannins are definitely of grape origin...some burly Syrah lots coming out of HHH and Wahluke Slope. We actually press early to limit tannin extraction and still get well structured wines.

  3. I see on your Twitter ramblings that you're looking for a Spokane white for next month. How about trying the 2008 Caterina Chardonnay that Paul Gregutt descibed as huge and delicious in the Seattle Times. I bought four bottles a few months ago, but won't be trying the first until this weekend.

  4. I guess my palate is a lot more educated than those that posted comments here. I found the nose very unpleasant. This wine had no complexity and was very bland on the palate. I would never buy this wine again and I would definitely not recommend it to anyone that had a clue what a really good syrah tastes like.
