Pic of the Vine - December 2015

With harvest a quickly fading memory, vineyard managers turn their attention to preparing the vines for a long winter’s sleep. And while winter vineyards might not resound with the vivid colors of summer, there is something alluring about slumbering rows amidst a blanket of white.

Resident photographer Richard Duval captured such a scene at Benson Vineyards in picturesque Lake Chelan. “A bit of sun brought some warm color to the vineyard rows standing like sentries on this chilly day,” he noted. “A near-perfect example of how proper winter prep will lead to the greens of spring.”
